The difference between fanon (fan-fiction) content and real content

Fanon: A fan-made piece of work (also called fan-fiction) not intended to be part of the actual work. Example: A series called SpongeBob: Infection would have its own storyline and would not intend to be part of the series SpongeBob SquarePants.

Real: The publically known work that is made by the actual staff of the work. Example: SpongeBob SquarePants is the real work. Spin-offs such as SpongeBob: Infection are not.

Explanation: Fanon has fan in it. Fanon are made by fans. The real work are made by the real staff, not fans.
